Tim Horton‘s article about the legacy of the Lindsay Quartet was published by The Strad on 3rd May, and is available to read online.
Describing the Lindsays’ influence both on himself as a performer and on the musical life of Sheffield, Tim writes about their role in the foundation of Ensemble 360 when their own residency at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre came to an end in 2005, and about their commitment to providing music for people of all backgrounds. In particular, Tim delves into lead violinist Peter Cropper’s teachings on the difference between instrumental and musical perfection, and how a shift in this attitude made a huge impact on Tim’s own musical development.
Since its foundation in 2005, Tim Horton has been pianist of Ensemble 360, the resident eleven-piece chamber ensemble at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre that succeeded the Lindsay Quartet in the same position. Ensemble 360 plays a central role in the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival, whose 2023 edition runs 12-20 May.
