Tim Horton to perform in Tenerife at the Kirker Music Festival

Pianist Tim Horton looks forward to making three appearances at the Kirker Music Festival in Tenerife between 14th and 18th November, including a solo piano recital centred on the music of Chopin.

Launched in 1986, Kirker Holidays is a travel company offering high-end package holidays with a cultural focus. The Kirker Music Festival is a week-long holiday on the sub-tropical island of Tenerife, in which guests stay at the picturesque Hotel Botanico, go on local trips including the Mount Tiede National Park, and enjoy six concerts given by the world-class team of resident chamber musicians – including Tim.

The finale concert of the festival will be Tim’s solo piano recital, which takes place on Friday 18th November and primarily features a selection of music by Chopin, placed alongside works by Mozart and Spanish pianist-composer Enrique Granados. Performing Chopin is a particular speciality for Tim, and one of his ongoing projects is a six-concert Chopin cycle – he is already mid-way through performing this cycle for Music in the Round in and around Sheffield, and looks forward to further performances in the coming seasons.

Tim’s other appearances in the Kirker Music Festival include César Franck’s Piano Quintet in F minor on Wednesday 16th November with the Sacconi Quartet, who will play Benjamin Britten’s String Quartet No. 3 as part of the same programme. Tim will also accompany baritone Stephan Loges on Monday 14th November in a recital of songs by Robert Schumann, Luigi Denza, Paolo Tosti and Noël Coward.

Tickets for the Kirker Music Festival are available via the Kirker Holidays website.
