Pianist Tim Horton looks forward to giving a solo appearance at this year’s Presteigne Festival in Wales.
Tim has crafted a solo recital programme that encapsulates the artistic cornerstones of this year’s festival- the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, the work of composer-in-residence Eleanor Alberga and a longstanding commitment to the performance of contemporary repertoire.
The concert will open with Shostakovich’s Preludes and Fugues, op. 87 nos. 1 in C and 15 in D flat, followed by Helen Grime’s 10 Miniatures. Tim will then give the world premiere of An die Musik by young British composer Derri Joseph Lewis, who received a 2022 Ivor Novello nomination and is currently a Royal Philharmonic Society Composer. Anglo-Jamaican composer Eleanor Alberga’s Oh Chaconne! precedes Chopin’s monumental Piano Sonata No 3 in B minor, Op 58, which Tim will next perform in June as part of his Chopin cycle at Wigmore Hall.
Full details of Tim’s performance at the Presteigne Festival may be found by following the link below, and general booking for the festival opens on 20th May.
