Pianist Tim Horton returns to Wigmore Hall in October for the next concert in his unique Chopin cycle.
Known for his fearless and pioneering programming, Tim Horton has crafted a Chopin cycle that places his works alongside music by the composers that inspired him, and by those on whose music Chopin’s influence can be clearly felt. This concert is the fourth of six in the cycle, which Tim embarked on in 2024 and which will conclude in 2026, marking ten years since his debut at Wigmore Hall.
Warmly received by the press, The Boulezian wrote of the first concert in the series that “this recital… announced a major voice in its own right, one with interesting and instructive things to say about and with this music”, going on to describe the third as “vividly communicative.”
In this programme, Tim pairs Chopin with J.S. Bach, whose English Suite no. 2 in A minor, BWV 807 he will perform alongside Chopin’s Prélude no. 25 in C sharp minor, op. 45, Waltz in A minor op. 34, no. 2, Fantaisie in F minor, op. 49, Two Polonaises, op. 26, Three Mazurkas, op. 63 and Polonaise-Fantasie in A flat major, op. 61. The concert takes place at Wigmore Hall on 29th October at 7:30pm, with tickets and further details available via the link below.
Tim can also be heard performing Chopin this summer as part of his programme ‘Piano in the Afternoon’ at the Presteigne Festival on 25th August, and in his recital for the Sprotbrough Music Festival on 11th October. Tim’s complete performance schedule may be found by clicking here.
